A funny 3 min. game

I just now played this 3/0 game (which I won, of course, or most likely wouldn't be posting). There's probably a bunch of better moves, but 3 min. games don't require the best moves, only moves that pose a difficulty to your opponent.

The last moves from White are very good but...

I think black opens very bad the game (especially the first 5 moves)

so white star with a big advantage that result in a clear win

I think white can do better against stronger opponents but maybe without winning with such advantage and with final moves so good... More balance games... Less beautiful ones

Anyway I like to watch the game and congratulations for your win :)

Thanks Chris,

As Scala pointed out, Black gave me such a good shot. I was just able to find a clear continuum. Sometimes, I have good position and blow it. This time was one of the better times.

Nice game, sound strategy employed...wish I could think quickly enough for these Blitz encounters.

Yeh, v nice!!

I'm amazed by people who can play remotely accurately that fast.  I've yet to learn how to play at even 15 minutes without dropping pieces left and right.

You took beautiful advantage of your opponent's deficiencies in the opening and the self-pin of his queen.

Thanks.  I still am amazed when people can play reasonable games at 1/0 or even 2/0.  My normal blitz time is 5/0, but sometime you have to compromise to find an opponent. 3/0 is about my limit and usually I have my fair share of mistakes, mouse-slips, blunders, etc. . . . but then again, so do my opponents.

1 minute chess has three phases:

1. Opening- Premove the opening

2. Middlegame- Play the middle game as fast as possible without hanging pieces

3. Endgame- frantically premove trying to beat the opponent on time, hanging pieces in the process of doing so.

Between strong players, the game can be of reasonable quality until phase 3.

On the game in post 1, I am of the opinion that 3...h6 is too slow in the KGA.

A very nice game. I am trying to learn some openings and this one really seemed to work out to your advantage. The only think I got is 20.) QF7 #. Other then that I though this was a great display of chess.

c_pawn,  I agree that 3...h6 just gave me another free move and prevented nothing.  I really hate premoves . . . shrug . . . maybe that's one reason I can't play lightning.

Crayola5118,  good eyes! I missed it completely.

I see no sacrifices! I've just today begun an attempt to play as agressively as possible in live chess, just to learn the initiative better.

I see no sacrifices!

I sacked my f pawn as early as move 2. One must be aggressive, I think, as opposed to passive, but one must also be careful.  Time vs. material themes often result in very fun games.

You're right about 2.f4.

Yes, I saw firsthand what a lack of care can do. The main reason why I have a chance of success is because of the tendancy for the people I compete with online to not have a positional understanding. That allows me to keep the initiative longer than I may deserve.

I also learned how strong a passed pawn can be in generating tactics.

8.Qd3 is surely worse than straightforward play (8.Bxe6 fe6 9.h4 with compensation).

10.b4? g4 would be almost disastrous for white.

11...Bg7 (advantage to Black) is much better than 11...Be7.

14.Rd1?! Qc8 (14.e6 was correct, with adequate compensation- about equal).

After 14...0-0? 15 e6 (of course!) the only move is 15...Nde5, but white is much better after 16.ef7+ Kg7 17.Qe4.

Chill out,  it was only a 3/0 game.

So, mistakes played in 3 | 0 do not count as such?  Tongue out

Sure enough it's natural to see serious errors and /or huge blunders in such games, but analysing errors even in such games is always beneficial. I'm sorry if it sounded like some sort of criticism.

Thanks Bats! Those 3 minute games are to quick for me. I haven't tried any of those yet, still working on my 10 minute games. Got to wish a DC comic fan good luck though!

Let's see ... if you have taken all the time on your clock in this game, you made one move per 180/22=8.1818 seconds. Like RenataCFC, I wonder how anyone can even play that accurately that fast. I'd probably need 8 seconds to just get out of blank-stare-mode! :)

IM pfren, No, I feel that mistakes don't mean so much in fast games since most the moves are off the top of the head and not very deep. Analyzing these games seems to attribute too much significance to them.  Generally, a my level of play, the mistakes tend to make the game fun since even outright blunders may not lead to a loss. But some people like to analyze even their 1/0 games which to me seems a waste of time. But thanks for the move ideas.
