A King without a home

When playing white I often have the opportunity place my bishop on f7 checking my opponent's king, which results in King capturing my bishop, as well as benefitting me by relinquishing black king's right to castle.  A similar move involving knight to f7 when played early in the game forks Queenie and rook.  This also results in the Master of the House capturing my knight and losing his castling move.

In your opinion, is this a wise tactic for me to use?

Thank you for your advice.

Thanks Andy.  Since my piece is captured, which piece are you referring to by "hang"?

Given my rating, any advice from me should be taken with a pinch of salt. I always look at these sacrifices, pretty much whenever available, and I always calculate it out, and I always come to the same conclusion that though its an annoying inconvenience for the other player, that's probably about all it is. Yet I still keep checking.

The only "legitimate" opening I can recall which lets you get away with such play is the Cochrane Gambit:
