A knight is worth MORE than a bishop

I may have participated in the mayhem. The question of bishops vs. knights does seem to always resolve to personal preference or situational factors. I'm sure you can see the parallel with asking which is better pancakes or waffles.

Trolls don't read relevant replies, instead they pick the most irrelevant to make more drama with. Don't be like the trolls terricotta, try re-reading the first 10 posts. I even linked the Heisman page that evaluated N vs B useing 300,000 master games.

i guess, its just that at the rate it was going any relevant answer was flooded with random pictures and repies. Here I am unexpectingly making a simple topic, and spammed unmercifully. Its like internet vandalism....but I guess it does defeat the purpose if I dont read the people who were kind enough to answer the question.

Heh, well the hijacking was unusually successful Smile I could see how 100+ irrelevant posts could be pretty annoying.

If I'm going to China, and my choices are a tugboat and an Italian sports car, I guess I'll take the tugboat. Why would anyone take a tugboat to China, unless you're in Hong Kong already.

MyCowsCanFly

Chess.com should have some kind of search function so new members can see what topics have already been explored.

Yeah, it's usually called member artfizz.

Yeah I definitely had part in the mayhem, but like it was said already, it was pretty successful. We all need to have a little fun here sometimes, and I'm sorry to say this thread turned into that fun. So, I guess what I am trying to say is, sorry the thread got hijacked. :(

(apologizing just isn't my thing lol)

Whoa, take a deep breath cowboy...

Once you've been around the forums for a while you're going to realize that certain topics tend to be revisted VERY VERY OFTEN.  I was once like you and didn't understand all of the breakfast pics and such and eventually realized that it was a humours way of telling all of the posters, and particularly the OP (that's you) that the content was both well covered in other posts or not useful for some reason or another.  Basically it's a way of diluting thread so that people will move on to other things.  It's a result of a little anarchy (nothing wrong with that) and a community of, mainly, more experienced players trying to help without being directly insulting.

As somebody pointed out, your thread was taken very seriously for a while, but as it continued to spin into more and more uselessness (i.e. beginners making grand pronouncments as if they knew what they were really talking about) the foodies began to emerge.

My guess is that one day you'll be here at forums and find yourself reading something for the 14th time in a "new" thread.  Suddenly your mind will drift to the topics of breadkfast items.  Next you'll be downloading pictures of food.  Eventually you'll become one of us and have a good laugh.  Of course none of this will happen until you become a pretty good player and you understand how to separate the wheat from the chaff.

p.s. I'll have an extra side of bacon with mine :)

I'm a Knight person myself. I'd take a Knight in almost every situation over a Bishop. The one exception is when I can pin or skewer involving the enemy queen! I think Knights should generally be worth 4 points though.

Conquistador

I think these pork brains are worth 6 points.

Why do people resign?  Or better yet, why won't my opponent resign even though I have mate in 3?

You've had some explanations. Also, why'd you scrub post #1? Even if you realize it was dumb, wouldn't it show more stones to leave it up and take your lumps for it?

Doesn't really answer my question about how you didn't let it stand as a testament to a lesson learned. And really, you're what, 13, with a 3-figure rating, and you thought you had some great insight into the relative powers of the minor pieces that has eluded players of world champion rank and so on down? I don't mean to be unkind for I have a son only a little younger than you, but you kinda set yourself up for a little ridicule.

(Mind you, I was 13 once too...)

That's good for over a week and a half, and after eating pork brains in gravy that might just be how long it would take before I could eat again.

Serve it with fresh berries on top, honey, bacon and sautéd cube fried potatoes about 3/4 by 3/4 inch in size with fried onions that are still translucent or semi-transparent meaning just cooked for a few minutes so that they are still a bit crunchy, makes a heaven meal.

The bacon, fried potatoes, and onions on the side or does everything go on top?

Gil-Gandel

I did some onions that way one time and I had the most godawful attack of gas - like my colon was a Zeppelin, I kid you not. I guess it just goes to show.

Well, the British are not known for handling variation in food preparation well...

Honestly, that pancakes thing was very funny, but this forum need moderation as soon as possible. That kind of things shouldn't happen in a serius forum.
