A Knight's Worth

Should a Knight be worth 2 points??

They should be worth 5 each when it's a knight pair close to your king.

3.5 in a closed position.

3 in an open position.

I would have to agree...  the value of bishops and Knights are totally relative to the board at hand.  There are some games were bishops are worth basically nothing and the Knight is able to move about and get into the thick of the game and even win!!!  As with the diagram posted above....

Do people only like Knights because beginners are notoriously prone to forks?

no. but in reply to chesshole, no. knights are better than one pawn but i dont mind 2 pawns for my knight

4 pawns vs. Knight and 2 pawns?

In some countries knights are worth 2 points.  I do think that 3 points is good as standard.  But Tal seems to trade a knight or bishop for two pawns.
