The black had the opportunity to save the king but the player didn't probably he didn't see the whites' black bishop.
i think if black did that move it will be a better and with better moves from the players

After 2.Bg3 or 3.Qe4 black should have captured the bishop on g3. Looks like both players didn't realise the f2 pawn was pinned.
