A mild complaint about live chess

Hello

I would like to know if there is a way in which you can make live chess actually respect and apply the rating settings that you choose for your pairings.

It fails consistently and pairs me with lower rated opponents, and after aborting several games it forces me to play a game which pairing I don't like and didn't choose.
Sometimes it simply says that there are no matchups within than rating range and time control, but almost always it gives me a pairing that omits my preferences.

Thank you very much in advance!

You would probably get Staff to respond to this querry if you re-posted it in the "help & support" forum.

the higher your rating ,the less opponents are available...its very hard in live chess ,especially standard chess to find your level oppoents ( over 2000 rated),but it seems that you have failed to adjust your settings corectly...i have never get an oppoents out of the rating range i set up...you always can set a rating range by submitting the minimum and the maximum ratings...Wink

Again - Give it up. I praised v3 endlessly for it's innovation when I first tried it and now after a couple of months I can't believe how far behind the competition this still is.

Basically, I use Chess.com for ChessMentor and access to groups, networks, etc. For actually playing chess - of any kind at this point - I prefer ICC by a longshot and I think that's how most people wind up after a while. You just want more eventually and get sick of the bugs here.

Warbringer... I would be careful recommending ICC for play. It's a direct violation of Chess.com forum rules. Personally I hate ICC.

Why would you hate it? It's awesome. And I find that interesting how there's a specific rule about recommending ICC to people. I pay $14/month here. If they don't like what I have to say on the forum they can take my diamond away and I can keep my money.

ICC is better than this for live chess, tournaments, videos, etc. This isn't really debatable. That said, I have repeatedly stated on here that this is still worth the Diamond subscription monthly due to Chess Mentor and having access to everything here on the largest web based chess community. So, I'm not driving any business away or anything I'm just telling him if he wants the best live chess experience out there, he should give ICC a shot.

That right there is harmless.

There's a specific rule about advertising competetive sites.

Thank you very much to all of you for your contributions.

Davidorcinus, could it be that you've set up a filter on the seek graph (ie., the challenges you'll see) instead of restricting your own seeks?

I will look into that, chrka, thanks.

Face it man when you get in the +1800 you will not get a standard game online.

All high ranked players believe people use engines online in standard which is to say standard time controls have lost all credibility in the eyes of chess players.

For the few title players who don't believe the engines have corrupted standard they refuse to play standard for another reason.

Giving the excuse of they don't have the time or they don't want to play because they play it in real life and are only looking for a short game.

If you wish to play a high rated player your going to have to play the sad time controls.

The time controls of choice are 1-0  to like 3-0.

Leaves a bad taste in my mouth after saying those time controls.

Disgusting!

Yeah I know what you're on about. For some reason it doesn't seem to work in Standard but CC there's no issues (so as long as you're above the minimum you set).
