The white knight is protecting the white queen because if the black king captured the queen he would be in check (because of the knight) so Kxf7 is illegal
Do you understand it?
If we allowed the move you're describing, and we agreed to say that it's not check, then you moving your own rook would put the king in check, which just seems like an over-complication of something that is otherwise simple.
In this position why can't the king take the queen. As the white knight is pinned, so its not protecting the square the white queen is in because it can't move. But still king can't capture. Please explain.
