I like to play the Sicilian Dragon and have studied how to defend against the Yugoslav attack and Levenfish. The problem is that people almost never go into the open Sicilians. In fact, it seems people will try anything possible to avoid going into them. Therefore in addition to learning the Dragon I have also had to learn how to play against all the alternative moves white will use. Some of these, like the closed Sicilian, still allow me to play the Dragon. Others like the Smith Morra gambit, the Wing gambit, and the Alapin, create a different game and require a different approach. So I was wondering about White's most commonly seen (at least at my level) alternative to going into the open Sicilian. that is the Bowlder attack where they bring their bishop out to c4.
I know it's best to play e6 in response to the Bowlder attack, however I have heard that playing e6 and g6 don't mix. Therefore should the Bowlder attack be classed as another one of those alternative moves that preclude playing the Dragon? Would it be best to play e6 and go into the Scheveningen instead?
