In the same manner that one cannot be compelled to resign a lost game, one also cannot be dictated to about the manner of the victory. High rated players (usually) resign lost positions, playing on in a lost position is generally considered crass above a certain level, so I doubt you'll easily find an example of what you have outlined.
a random question - unsportsmanlike conduct in a match

There was a match between some of the super strong Russian GMs where they weren't on speaking terms to the point that not even a draw offer passed, so they played down to the kings for a draw.
I want to say it was Karpov v. Korochnoi but I don't think that's right.

We play chess at work on our hour lunch break. I can play up to 3 games. The people I play know how to play, but play by move, nothing strategic. How they play versus how I play is comical. They assume and play for the piece, not position. So, when I put them in checkmate early, or only took a few of their pieces, they talk as if I didn't know how to play correcty. Also, they trash talk very crudely, and lots of profanity. When they talk trash in the beginning, I do make it a point to take every piece and taunt their king. Here, at chess.com, I do not play at "entry" level. I play at a level 5-6 out of 10 in my mind, lol. Here, people should play respectable chess etique. I will just click out of the game if the person punks me. Especially if I say "hi" in chat and they ignore me. Better than me at chess if one thing, rude manners, no excuse. That's my side of the topic. Hey, machine, we gotta play again friend. - Drew -
I'm a pretty new member - and have really been enjoying the site. My interest in chess is recent as well, and I've enjoyed reading about some of the historic matches that have taken place.
Are there any historic (or at least, high elo) games where one player has deliberately (and obviously) withheld delivering checkmate while systematically destroying some or all of his opponents remaining pieces until the opponent resigned? It would obviously be unsportsmanlike and crass - would it get a player kicked out of FIDE or USCF?
