The lions at the Olympiads
The Manila Olympiad 1992 saw the addition of many new national teams split from the former USSR. In the twenty years up to 2012, the medal tables show Russia leading by a huge margin with 6 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze. Armenia : 3G+ 3B while Ukraine : 2G + 1S + 3B.
For convenience, say, a gold is worth 3 points, silver 2 points and bronze1 point. Russia has 25 points, followed by Armenia with 12 and Ukraine with 11. Just after them is the United States: S +3B = 5 , Israel: S+B = 3
For the women's section, China leads with 4G+3S+4B = 22
Russia: 2G+3G+3S=15 Georgia: 4G+2B= 14 Ukraine: G+2S+B =8
Hungary: 2S = 4
