A weird win

I was watching a live chess game between two high rated players and I saw somthing very strange. White was one move away from checkmate and black couldn't do anything to stop it in his next move. Black's next move is checking white. White instead of dealing with the check just put the black king in checkmate and white won. My question is how does that work?

chesskingdreamer

which game was it?

I don't really remember the names. I was new to the site at the time.

Maybe it was a like a 'spite' check and White blocked Black's final check with a mating move (discovered checkmate ?, double checkmate ?, etc.).

So, ('White instead of dealing with the check') maybe White did deal with it afterall. Would need to see the game....Smile....

No, there was no way white could deal with the check and mate him. Sorry I don't have the game.
