When your opponent has 15 minutes left. Do you realize that there are some position that a person can genuinely think for more than 7 minutes out of the 15 minutes left.
That said, I have also encountered bad sport who let their time run out for reasons best know to them. Giving you a setting that allows you to determine how many minutes it will take for your opponent to move can be problematic as a person can lose a game while genuinely thinking about what to play in the position.
When you encounter someone that is stalling, report them.
It seems that a fair number of players "ghost" the game and just let the timer tick on, and on, and on, while their 15 minutes left in the game goes to nothing. I feel frustrated because I have to sit there just waiting until it officially runs out or risk them coming on again. Is there any setting I can use to say "Take 3 mins to make your move and then time's up."
It's just such a let down to essentially win a game and then sit there for 15 mins wondering if they've gotten hit by a bus or had a house fire or if perhaps they're just a lousy sport and get a kick out of being a sore loser. Any help in dealing with this would be great. It's a peeve not because some people are like that, but because Chess.com doesn't seem to have any way for me to prevent that by having an auto abandonment after a reasonable amount of time. Or maybe it does? If so, I'd love to know how to set up a timer and prevent this ghosting cr@p.
