So I get a lot of people that challenge me and then they never move...so I end up aborting and get warned ???

If you wait for a while and they still don't move, the game gets aborted automatically, in which case your opponent gets the warning.
It's to prevent people aborting games until they play white etc

I believe that nothing happens to you if your opponent aborts. I had many opponents aborting and I don't have any restriction.

so dont abort.....u just have to wait 10 secs and then the game is dropped by itself .Stop aborting because u may get ur account closed.....for nothing.dont risk it and try to be patient and wait,i know its difficult to do this and it happens to me(some players do not abort when they have the black pieces and wait for the auto-abort which drives me crazy sometimes but i got to live with that)

I accpted a challenge and the first thing the guy does is offer a draw, which was very annoying. So I immediately click abort and got a warning. :(

I think you guys should be a little more relaxed in unrated games.

Just play and ignore the draw, there is no need to abort.

Makes me wonder why you dont do away with the whole "abort" option, since we are not supposed to use it anyways. The players can wait a few seconds and the server will abort the game anyways if the game is not progressing. And if the opponent is playing, we are supposed to play and not abort. So, why is the option there at all?

This is a good question. I suppose this is in case you have some emergency and you need to leave, you can apologize to your opponent and abort the game. Is not likely to have many of this situations so you won't abort much.

But still, in this case you could just resign. If you have to leave, then you can't play anymore, and if you can't play anymore you will lose.

The fact remains that clicking abort, regardless of the reason, is considered offensive under the fairplay policy. Even if one clicks abort for just reasons, fairplay records it as offensive and if you repeat, you will get warnings and eventually some kind of punishment.

In my opinion, if one is playing unrated games, the moderators should relax this particular rule a bit. I never ever play an rated game unless I am sure that I have the time and patience to do my best. However, there are times when I am waiting for a phone call, unsure when it will come, and I start playing an unrated game to kill time. I make sure to play unrated assuming that the opponent is not in a very serious competitive mood either. In such a game, if I get the phone call or something else pops up, I should be allowed to use the abort button. In my opinion, in unrated games, players should be given benefit of doubt.
