I think it's bad manners to blame a loss on "drinking for several hours". That is NO excuse

Only in one minute. The drug slows my reflexes.

One minute chess when you're drunk? Well then, I think you can blame the boozeLaughing

They don't like their color or the opponent's opening.

Yeah, sometimes you go to click on a ten-minute match(or whatever) and it changes before your click registers.

You could then end up in an hour-long match which you don't have time for.

This happened to me a couple of times.

Or myself for having no sense. But, even in such a state, some players should have no chance. If I lose eleven rating points to such a poser, I expect rematches until I get them back--often this means six more games. These posers usually run after their totally unexpected victory.

they could have pressed the wrong game

yup. the thing keeps moving up and down and right when you're gonna press the game you want you end up pressing another one.

Whenever anyone who accepts my seek and then aborts, I type in 'idiot' as quick as I can, then press the new game tab, as sometimes you get the same dude aborting consecutive games. I am always pleased to be able to insult these people if at all possible.

The number one reason (also the reason why people that abort mostly are players with the black pieces) is that they do not like the opening move you played as white. I get this ALOT when playing 1. c4.

I have no clue why it is allowed to abort after the first move without losing points but the official lame bullshit reason given for this is "people might start a game and not move and it gives you the option to abort the game without losing points". Well what the hell is the difference if he simply moves 1 or 2 moves and THEN simply waits the time out to be annoying. No difference what so ever.

They need to change this crap.

I've never aborted a game and never had any abort on one of my challenges

I'm a little surprised that noone here knows the actual answer to this question.  The reality is that the vast majority of people don't 'accept' seeks on chess.com, but are instead paired up with other similar seeks by the website.  For example, if I make a 2 12 seek, the system will look for other people seeking 2 12 in my rating range.  If a player of similar strength is unavailable, the system will keep checking until it finds the next 2 12 seek, no matter what the strength discrepancy may be.

So to answer your question, the people who abort your games had in mind a much weaker (or maybe, in some cases, a stronger) opponent.  Granted, they should have specified a rating range in their seek, but they're not just picking you out of the crowd and then aborting.  Hope this clears it up.
