Absent-Mindednesses

I have loads of good games, but I haven't got a very good rating because of my lapses of concentration. I mean, I was winning a game (I had R and Q vs Q ) and my rival just captured a pawn with the queen and I could  have captured it, but instead of this I thinked: well i play the rook On the 7th rank and he is on Zugzwang, so I lost the queen How to fight this and become a true chess player? has this ever happened to you? can you give some examples?

p.d. sorry of my English if it's not very well

Thank you very much guys

is this about our game? (sounds similar and the timing is the same but it wasn't quite rook and Queen), if so, really unlucky, I do the same all the time if that's any consolation!

Er...I've forgotten what I was going to say.

Seriously, the only answer is practise. The more often you play, the more you develop your awareness of what each piece is doing and so make fewer and fewer blunders. Patience - Rome was not built in a day.
