Abusive messages

I'm new to this site, joined a few days ago.

I'm a bit shocked at getting quite abusive messages from opponents for no apparent reason other than that they lost.

I've played at a few other sites and not seen this behaviour before so was a bit surprised.

Is this type of thing tolerated here?

No. Be prepared for lots of juvenille comment, much of which will make no sense.  Don't worry & play on.

A lot of people are bad losers. Add the fact of being anonymous, and you get that type of behaviour. Just ignore it.

Avatar of Pulpofeira

By the way, I'm a good loser. I'm too used.

Besides, after a while, you sometimes might want to be abusive back...try to rise above it!

you'll eventually get abusive messages when you lose too, though less often.

funny how some can find a way to get angry over virtual chess pieces moving to and fro across the screen.

try find a bright side and laugh them off, at times a fool spitting the dummy can be hilariously entertaining

I had a player recently that messaged me approximately 30+ times during a game with insult after insult.  I guess he thought it was intimidating?  In the end, I blocked him just because he struck me as a person I wouldn't want to deal with in any way, for any reason.  It's best to just ignore them.

Good call.  That behaviour would be more to annoy than intimidate surely?

usually only in the lower ranks or when you're playing little kids do they have no respect. In the higher ratings, i noticed there is much more respect for your opponent. Remember, it's only a game! Be humble in victory and improve in you losses. Good luck!

I guess so.  What was quite funny about alot of his messages was that he was complaining about how slow I was during the game, yet he agreed to a 15/10 time control.  Besides, I was simply using the time I was alotted.  I did lose the game but I lose alot so...

Well, I suggest that bothering you in a quick game really was to annoy.

You don't get it in the longer time limits.

But, judging from the cases reported in the forums, it is common in blitz and bullet.

I, too, find it distinctly odd.

Everybody here is odd, except moi.

You have urin obsession, though. We are not amused.

You can disable the chat..

in blitz & bullet games there's no much time for a talk anyway.

You can also chose in the settings to disable the chatt automatically , so you don't have to do it every game.

SelurKu... I've never had abuse whilst playing a game on here.  Choose who you play against if you can.  Plus... The same as Ghillan said... disable chat in blitz and bullet games as there's little time in there to chat anyway.  Works for me.  Good luck.

+1 (Chat will be enabled automatically when you're playing with your friends.)

Then stop sending me your 'urin' messages!

"Is this type of thing that's tolerated here?".  Not by staff, however, you can't send in a ticket every time someone calls you a name.  If they CONSISTENTLY harass you, then yeah, send in a ticket.
