In chess.com some users use extremely offensive usernames,eg:beastkillermachine(I found this username today). It is very unpleasant to play against them. Why chess.com allows to use such usernames? What is your opinion about it?

I'm sure some people might have issues with some names, including that, but it certainly isn't abusive.

To the OP, if you find a username that might be against the site's TOS, you van report it.

I've seen some disgusting names, but beastkillermachine is ok with me.  I don't like political and religious promotional or attack names and don't like unethical names.

I just ignore them, though there is an argument that some are psychological ploys. For example, a couple years ago I beat someone who called himself Jesus is my Savior.  If I felt strongly about Jesus, it might subconsciously affect my play.  But otherwise, I don't care who his Savior is.  I won the daily game in 14 moves!

I personally don't find beastkillermachine offensive. However, I do take issue with anal.rap.ist, which I saw playing four player chess the other day.

I hope people don't find my name abusive, as it is in Dutch happy.png

Not that it's abusive or offensive in any way, but i never know how an english speaking person perceives (is that the right word?) it.

My name was chosen by the computer and means nothing to me. Some probably think I'm ultra religious or something, but I just never bothered to change it. I see no importance. What's in a name, as the bard said...

WISE MEN SAY " FREEDOM OF SPEECH " IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CENSORSHIP..... BECAUSE ONCE YOU CENSOR.... THE IDIOTS WIN .... YOU WANT TO MAKE THEM STOP SAYING STUPID SHIT ... ITS AS EASY AS STOP LISTENING TO IT...... THEN THEY WILL STEP UP THIER GAME OR STEP OUT

To #7, Splender, your name sounds great in English.  Our language is about sound as much as meaning. So I understand your concern. The sound of your name is splendid, an uplifting word in E nglish.

Ay Elkpan... are you hairy lefty wid Hammer and Sickle? Look as expected.

Anyway, what about swearing and offence not in english? Are russian or dutch or whatever filtered... or can they say whatever they wanting?!

I don't have any problem with beastkillermachine; there are more important things around at which to take offense than people's usernames.  I played a guy calling himself NATIONAL_SOCIALISM once on here, wasn't even offended by that, but I wouldn't wear it on a t-shirt.  I got the last laugh, crushed his ass.

Can pretty much guarantee you its some young kid that thinks its a really "cool" and "tough" sounding name.  Its what kids do...anytime something trendy happens that flock to it.  When the movie Scarface come out, people came out of the woodwork using the name "Tony Montana" and repeating the phrase: "Say hello to my little friend"
