You will see an example of your typical American chess player from the 'Silman school'. I must say, it makes for good entertainment!

The BYP is far from typical. He's in the bottom 10% of chess players in thhe US. Most at his level have never seen a chess book.

If you want to see how quickly you lose to an American who has read Silman's books, send me a challenge.

Well, I don't consider Silman as a good teacher for me, but the chap you put up as a typical student is hardly that. The poor guy is just deluded.

There are good American teachers, e.g. Yasser Sierawan, but there are also many poor ones: Eric Schiller, Danny Kopec &c.

You do know that Silman is co-author with Seirawan on some of his books, of course.

All the Yasser Sierawan lessons I have seen are his videos with the St. Louis Chess Club. Those are quite good. I've seen his "Winning Chess" series, but have not read any of them.

As befits my hopeless habit, I bought another chess book yesterday. Boris Gelfand's "My Most Memorable Games."

I watched one of those videos yesterday--he highlights a nice game that he won against Tony Miles in 1979. At least one book of the Winning Chess series is co-authored with Silman.

I have a ProChess instructive video that Seiriwan did in the 1980s that I show pieces of to kids in my summer camp.

:/ really dont think cheating occurs that often. what makes you think it happens so often (other than your crappy play)?

1/1000 sounds like an extremely optimistic figure.

can anyone actually produce a single game where they think a computer has been used to cheat against them?

My Dearest king_nothing1,

Please reconsider your decision. Remember, chess is more than just a game you play. It has grown to become an integral part of you. I love your manifesto but it is all too late now. You have become a part of our subterranean community - and you are loved amongst us.

The Ghostess Lola (Happy Halloween !)
