Advice needed

I just finished a ten rounds tournament with a score of 6/10. What I realized was that 90+30 games are not like online blitz. The games are superior and of a higher quality. Hence I am thinking of cutting down on my online blitz. Anyway at my level people play clownish openings and clownish moves in general(online I mean)angry.png

What I do require from the community here at c.c is advice on how to improve in general not focusing on increasing my blitz rating online but rather my understanding of the game of chess.

Because it is so frustrating to not be able to play well.

Was this 90 minutes with a 30 seconds bonus? That is a big change from blitz and bullet.

You are rated 1861 in blitz and find that people play clownish openings against you?

yeah but i consider 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 d6?! to be clownish even though it even has a name and a mention in the ECO. The point is that if you wouldn't play it OTB then it's not a good opening. I don't know why people play offbeat stuff it's simply a waste of time it gets you nowhere and there's no fun in it either.

Analyzing those four games you lost thoroughly would be a good start.  Find out where you got in trouble.

True. My last game was particularly exciting. I sacrificed a pawn for active play but lost in the end. I have yet to analyze it. Maybe I'll post the analysis here for more experienced members to comment on.
