Guided back to FIDE 2000 by an apparition of a queen on h3

In the 17 months since posting the original thread (back then I was still capable of making FIDE 2000 without hallucinations!), I didn't play many games and my rating didn't change much.

I still find myself falling (slightly) below 2000 and then climbing back the few missing points.

The "back to 2000" title could fit some 3-4 games that I played in this period - and here's the most recent one (I lost a game a couple of weeks ago, so without the game I'm about to show, I would again get a prefix "19" in the next update in March).

Many thanks! :-)

Thanks to this game, I'm not losing the "2000+ status" on the next update - and I'm glad that you enjoyed my game!!

Very nice win Solskyz! Are you planning to go to 2100 your next chess goal?

Ideally yes - but it's not all that easy... I don't have so much time to either study or play - I'm actually quite surprised that I'm even maintaining a 2000 rating... we'll see how this develops...

Black's best move is 9...e6, and theory of the line goes on for almost 20 more moves.

9...Nxc3 fixes the pawn weakness at d4, and gives white a large advantage (two bishops, freer development). 10...Qb6 seems to be no improvement- Black is in very deep trouble after 11.d5.

(intended to post a game, but a fresh site bug does not allow me the luxury).

<IM Pfren> Indeed! I intend to study the move d5 (also Rb1 can be powerful) in these variations (...Qc7 / Qb6).

I'm aware of the variation that goes 9...e6 10. Qxb7 Nxd4 11. Bb5+ Nxb5 12. Qc6+ Ke7 13. Nxb5 - but I don't really know much more about it. I wonder what is the theory of the line...

13.Qxb5 is a better move.

I have a terrific score in this line (as white), but this was many years ago- currently theory has evolved, and Black is thought to be very close to equal in the resulting ending. Sorry I cannot be more specific, but still the site bug does not allow posting games and diagrams.

I'm really sorry for the site bug... hopefully it will be resolved at some point, and I can then enjoy some new and winning theory knowledge - and perhaps a demonstrative game or two. That would be lovely!
