Proven?

The question really is not whether you should drink alcohol to improve your performance, but rather, how much alcohol for the maximum performance level?

but a beginner shouldn't have more than 1 drink just to settle their nerves.
mhh, why?

Good point! I'm ok with a pretty strong buzz, but a beginner shouldn't have more than 1 drink just to settle their nerves.
Agreed. Alcohol rating will go up with experience;)

however, chess and crystal meth?
AMAZING!!!
Whatever gets in the way of a good sleep is bad for nearly everything in life, in my view:)
I found on acid I played about the same but was more creative and had twice as much fun( seemed like I was having a conversation with my opponent)

Ha ha. Indeed. Great question. Playing chess OTB (casual game obviously) is awesome for me because I don't over think, I'm aggressive and intuition takes over. Online chess? No. I blunder in an easy position, overplay my chances, see combos but not through to the end. Next day, I'm wondering why the heck did I make that move? Heh

Personally, I almost always drink a bottle or two of strong red wine during my matches.
I'm sure it has led to many mistakes, but it makes the game much more enjoyable for me, which after all, is the point of all games...unless, one is after points, no matter what.
Hello all.
I am just wondering how chess and alcohol affect your play? For me it destroys it. After few few drink I stay well away from the embarrassment.
I have heard from different people that drink sometimes helps peoples' chess performance. But I guess it must effect people in different ways. What have you observed or noticed?
Comments/advise appreciated :)
