alekhine or capablanca? who is better?

Alekhine obliterated all of his opponents in a drunken rage including Capablanca. He was so far ahead of his contemporaries that the Russians had him terminated because it was the only way they could dethrone him once they lost control of him and he refused to be used as a Soviet propaganda puppet

I agree with bong711. Alekhine beat Capablanca near the end of his career when he was ill. Capa has a family history of hypertension so let's keep that in mind. Since Capablanca is arguably considered one of the best World Champions while being sick is huge in my view to his favor. Also I don't know of any other player who went eight years without a single loss while not in a wartime era. They say he hated to study which one could conclude that if Bobby Fischer the hardest worker ever looks up to Capablanca as do many other champions and he didn't put in half the work they did than Jose Raul Capablanca may be the GOAT considering he naturally made the best moves off the top of his head with no serious preparation. Even Kasparov can't do that!

I have always been a fan of Capablanca. But as far as who is better? That's a personal choice, that will be broken down into the following:
The "tactical/aggressive" players will say Alekhine"
Everyone else will say Capablanca.
But i think what is important is to realize you can learn from both.

It is Capa's greatest game and one of the 10 greatest game in chess history.

I once read in a book that capablanca played 40 french topplayers blindfolded simultaneous and
won 35.

Capablanca going 8 years without losing a game? And only losing something like 24, 42, something like that games in his entire career??

Capa's games are one of the most instructive. You can ignore other old chess greats games. But not Capablanca. Ask Karpov, Kasparov and other world champions.

Bogoljubow was one of the all time greats. He won some very strong tournaments. His games are quite remarkable. If you've never studied any of his games you should take a look at a few.
