Hi I'm reading the aformentioned book ("L'école des échecs/I" in french) but I don't understand diagram 176:

Now the suggested solution is 1.Qb7-g7+! followed by either:

1... Rg8xg7 2. Rd6-d8+ Rg7-g8(??)

and black loses the queen. I don't understand why Black can't simply play 2... Qxd8. Have I missed something?

Hello

REDRUM6

King will have to move to g7 and the knight can fork the queen and king on f5 with a check.

I don't think that answer is thought through

Ideas?

REDRUM6

1.rd8+qxd8 2.Qxg7+kxg7 3.Ne6+kf6 ..now knight can take queen on d8. Queen is lost in the end if you play rook g7
