The only way a constant attack works is (sometimes) when the opponent (especially Black) has made some very major opening mistake, since he can never recover from that mistake and will sometimes be on the defensive for the rest of the game. Otherwise in an ordinary game there is necessary interplay between attack and defense throughout the entire game. Many games get posted here of quick losses when the attacker overlooked a mate-in-one against himself when in winning position!
