I don't know, even with it being unrated. That said, if you actually got good players playing, the win is unlikely to go to the person with the best hardware.
Am I Allowed To Do This?

I am not sure. I think that if there are enough rounds we could have some interesting results.

I did see a thread like this a few years ago. From what I remember, both players have to get their opponent's permission, and only then they can do it. Plus, the games must be unrated

Yeah. The games will be unrated. To join you have to acknowledge that the games are going to be played by an engine.
As far as allowed is a question - I don't see why you wouldn't be.
Will anyone be interested in playing this tournament, where essentially all you are doing is logging into a machine, loading that position and playing whatever move it suggests. Whats the fun in that.
If you want to see which is the strongest computer you could easily do that by following various computer chess championships that keep happening regularly.

I mean it is just a friendly tournament. If you don't see the fun in it then you do not need to join.
and I wont join, but I do think that you could find out which engine is the strongest without going through the hassle of organising a tournament where essentially all you are doing is copy pasting positions and moves for days.
If you want to go ahead with this rather tedious sounding tournament, then do so by all means.

Following engine suggestion is not the only thing .Human input is also very important.
I want to host an unrated daily tournament where people can use any engine and hardware they want.
I want to see who has the most power and who has the best engine. To register you would need to list the hardware and software. It would be an interesting combination.
