I think among High level chess players what would to be a passive game probably is not. Playing a rope-a-dope style game is not passive. Players at a lower level than 1250 or so see reckless abandon or constant piece trading as aggression. Pulling back and not accepting one material trade after another is not being cowardly or passive. I have played guys who just want to trade trade trade off materially equally as soon as the game begins. Over time you begin to see they have trick in their bag only and you do not have to play the type of game your opponent wants you to play. I think the OP seems to prefer fast blitz style games. Not many daily games to study. Faster games will by nature often appear reckless and aggressive for most, not all, players. One is forced into immediate decisions. I would like to see games where there is ,ore time to ponder and analyze moves.
