I am 900 in bullet, 800 in blitz, and 1160 in rapid. My first move is always either e4 or e5 regardless of anything. I always play Italian for ehote and petrovs for black. Am I overusing this?

I wouldn’t recommend Italian, it’s always unclear what your plan is supposed to be

I just recently learned the Italian and it can be complex compared to most openings which can be good in a way but if you like more safe games play d4

what type of italian?

before i slander you i want to know if you play the cringe 4 knights italian system or if you play the gigachad open italian lines

You can't overuse an opening. 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 (Italian), is a great opening. It opens many opportunities for white in the center and on f7. But you have to know how to play the Fried Liver, Polerio, Traxler, Giucco Piano, and all of the other great Italian lines. Or you can play four knights and screw yourself over. I think of the Italian game as very balanced, but whenever I see 4. Nc6, I die. If you're going to bring out your bishop, you should use it. Four Knights is a waste of time, defending a piece that if attacked you have Bxf7+. I encourage you to play Italian if you're going to play well. Going to be a -800 elo who doesn't know how to play chess, don't.
