andriod app update pushed out yesterday

Is anyone else here seriously dissapointed with with revamp they have made to the android app? I am extremely disappointed with the overhaul and everything is clumsy and hard to figure out. The app crashes constantly and I can't figure out for the life of me how to view game seeks others have posted

The board must take full width of the screen! Quality is absolutely terrible. some pieces jump around and crashes.

The new app has huge potentiality but it's full of bugs and needs a lot of fixing. Hopefully they'll sort things out. I hope because, despite bugs and issues, I like it

Yes it is terrible. Wont use it now to play games. Really dissapointed and hope they fix all the bugs..

If I attempt to play a live game I have to log off completely for it to close out of the status bar above, this app sucks

Not only that but it also wants me to pay to upgrade my subscription so I can view my stats, where before the upgrade I could do that as a gold member. Now apparently gold membership isn't good enough and they ate trying to milk more money out of me for something I was already getting with my existing membership

yep thats true im having the same problem..I can see its better then before with new updating but takes a bit of time to figure it out ... needs a lot in to it ..as for the stats on any player should be shown for free for any member as is a track of your own records and not longer on DEMO mode...they do need to sort that out.

I cant customize my time for live games and I cant even play unrated.....I cant view player profiles from their usernames either. There are a lot more bugs.....

it is completely [removed by mod- no vulgar language] up...when you flip the board you cannot even make your move. and the design is ugly. i want the old design back.

Hi guys, I'm sorry you're having issues with the android app. To be able to get this resolved for you, I need as much detail about the issues you're having as possible. If you're getting crashes, please make sure that you click the report button and include in the comments what you were doing when the app crashed. If its crashing a lot when you do something specifically, please let me know what you're doing and I can try to replicate it. 

As far as the look of the app, it is customizable :) If you go to the menu (top left corner of the app), scroll down to settings, you'll see you have the option for themes there.

Hey jac1yn, it is totally fair to ask for info and details, but to be honest the app is not even close for bug reporting. If you just sit 5 minutes and click around you will get a lot of crashes in different areas and more. For example,  I tried to use openings explorer and after making a few moves and taking back (I dont remember the sequence obviously) I got to the initial position + e2-e4 and then touched e5 for next black move to my amazement the following move was rendered with animation Ra8-e5. Yes, thats right a rook slowly rolled from the corner and was placed in the middle. I also saw this similar issue in other places (I tried following one annotated game with the diagram player) one of the black rooks was white in the initial position etc.  All the above will probably be fixed eventually, but some of the usability issues raised above are a concern as well. The board should take the entire width of the screen. I don't care about some design niceness. I stare at my big board not this distracting green background (glad at least that can be changed). The board with the button New game is confusing and a usability issue because it can be clicked unintentionally way too often. Live games and online games should not mix. The toggle button for analysis mode was much easier and intuitive to use than how the analysis mode is meant to be used now. At least add some color indication that you are in the analysis mode. Yes, I know you can read that at the top it is not enough. There are plenty of other I have not uncovered, but simply decided to ditch so low quality app at this stage. You need QA people in your team. The app has some potential though, I liked many integrated features like openings explorer and access to other areas of chess.com. Merry Christmas.

where is the tournament button on the new upgrade? how do you join and see how you are getting on?

yes, where is the tournament area? and an area for team management is totally required! anyway let's hope problems will be fixed soon because it is (potentially) a good app.

and yes, REPORT the problems you find if you want them fixed, let's not just whine here on the forum

the app is superb but the problem is with crushes

I dont know, I like it because it has forums, TT, CM, videos... But it hasnt crashed yet.

happy xmas all.. having same problems. can't find tournaments. submit button doesn't work on my tablet so back to using my phone. had a few crashes. it will be great when it's all sorted. all the best.
