That's Chess. Part of the game. Hate it at times, but I have done it when I make a blunder at end of game. Save face.

It's annoying when they resign. But it's also annoying if they DON'T resign. Why do people complain so much about trivial matters? Because they get an emotional reward from it known as "righteousness".
If they resign, you win instantly. What's there to complain about? If you want to see cool checkmates, do tactics trainer.
I was under the impression that it was proper chess etiquette to resign when your position is completely lost. Why would you want your opponent to waste your time? I play with a friend of mine and he always gives me grief if he feels I'm playing a hopeless position and won't just resign so we can start a new game.

How dare they not let me checkmate them! How dare they force me to checkmate them! How dare they not accept my rematch! How dare they request a rematch! How dare they disable chat! How dare they try to talk to me while playing chess!..... some people just like to complain.

in truth it doesn't (shouldn't) matter at all. one guy should only resign if it is clear that checkmate is absolutely inevitable. I guess the OP is an exception- all this means is that you can't please everybody.
I still say you have no reason to grouse if you've won the game. IMHO.
