I find it's tactical combinations that are missed at your rating level more then anything. Work on not only basic tactics but combination attacks as well. The better you learn what attacking methods are used the better u can use them and defend against them. That's my humble opinion anyway.

I would say queens gambit, its not an attacking line, its kind of a defensive line in my experiences

I would start of with queens gambit ones first as they seem to set the tone/foundation for so many others later.
Sounds good, thanks Serb. I've had a slight fear of learning a d4 opening for awhile, but I suppose it was inevitable.

Learn the principles of it not just the moves if u want to do any good with any openings. Make sure also that u understand what the individual moves are for as well. Dont need more then 6-10 moves in depth though.
Im glad people are offering to help with answering questions! I am going to serbia tomorrow for a month so if this threead stays alive it would be nice of other people to answer the questions instead of me!

I am also leaving in a week for a mth so i won't be able to answer any for to much longer either. Not that I'm an expert or anything hahaha.
