Any myths in the ancient creation of chess?

I was wondering if anybody could tell me some myths about the creation of chess thousands of years ago. Thanks

Crazychessplaya

From the musical, Chess:

Not much is known
Of early days of chess beyond a fairly vague report
That fifteen hundred years ago two princes fought,
Though brothers, for a Hindu throne

Their mother cried
For no one really likes their offspring fighting to the death
She begged them stop the slaughter with her every breath
But sure enough one brother died

Sad beyond belief
She told her winning son
You have caused such grief
I can't forgive
This evil thing you've done

He tried to explain
How things had really been
But he tried in vain
No words of his
Could mollify the queen

And so he asked
The wisest men he knew
The way to lessen her distress
They told him he'd be pretty certain to impress
By using model soldiers on
A chequered board to show it was his brother's fault
They thus invented chess

We still don't have enough knowledge about dinosuar communities to assert that chess was not created by them. Therefore, using chess-creationism, we have to assume that dinosaurs did create chess. Many dinosaur chess books have not been recovered. We have to assume they were quite prodigious in writing chess books, based upon what little evidence there is of dinosaurs playing chess. And with no evidence whatsoever, it is agreed that dinosaurs ate while playing chess.

Chess is not mentioned in the Bible, therfore chess does not exist.

More importantly, it's agreed that they ate each other while playing chess.  Or at least the carnivores did.

But I have a new theory which blows the dinosaur chess theory way out of the water.  I posit that single-celled organisms played chess while swimming around in the primordial soup.  It's not certain what they ate while playing, but probably soup.

Here is the ancient bowl, pictured on the moon, which proves your theory:

It's unknown whether it was chicken noodle, or egg drop soup.

cream of mushroom

oh

this is my theory

In the Begining, Chuck Norris was Playing chess with God.

Chuck Norris spilt his mug of coffee and nails on the queen and pawns which magically turned into living beings, the queen became an angel whilst the pawns ticked God off and He sent them hurtling towards the Earth. God felt merciful on them and spilt some coffee on the knight which turned into all the wild animals.

Then eventualy He gave them the ability to build by giving them the transmorgified Rook. Chuck Norris decided that they needed to have some one to profess the true faith to the world and sent the Bishops.

And God sent his only son, the King down to Earth, where upon the Game was slated to begin.

Thanks guys, but I was hoping for some real myths, what I mean by that is the greek gods which most believe are made up are an example of a real myth, except they aren't related to chess.

Chessmonger330

how dare you disrespect the highly decorated myth/theory that dinosaurs ate soup while playing chess!

Dude science has proven that the world is billions of years old.

A myth ; chess originated in India . Life size chess carvings have been unearthed in China by archeolygists , they pre-date any guess of other origins .

IMO, the biggest myth around today is that the human chess player will always be better than the computer chess player.

Interestingly, where will chess go after we build the best chess playing computer imaginable? If we pit that computer against another computer with the same ability who would win? The one that moves first or second? Chess is not as simple as tic-tac-toe because there are far more options; so, does that mean if we used more of our brain power (we assume we use ~10%) it would seem like tic-tac-toe to us? Meaning, easy, we would know who wins after X move? By, this, I mean a lot sooner than we do normally...

So, like tic-tac-toe is there a best move for chess? The best opener, the best counter...the best counter to the counter to the last counter that was made?

Yes, these must all certainly be myths... if not, just me rambling. By all means, ignore if you wish :(
