And by you I mean everyone who has chatted with me.
Chesteraz7
I think I will share one now: keep your bishops together. Same occurs for the rooks.
Chesteraz7
BUT! This is the only time I will give a free tip!
JoeLovesCoco

hi, heres just some basic tips

1. take control of the centre

2.develope pieces

3. castle or get your king to safty (most likely out of the centre)

4.than connect rooks by moving your queen

Mako_Cat
Why would you keep you two bishops together??? They protect each other... oh wait.

Chesteraz7
Tips are: practice playing the game, try to learn more and look for every good move!
Chesteraz7
And Mako_Cat! The reason why you keep your bishops together is because they can work together to attack.
JoeLovesCoco

but they can work together from opposite sides of the board, and no offense hes rated 1500 to your 800

Chesteraz7
I mean with other pieces.
JoeLovesCoco

theyre only good in a group if you only have two bishops (and your king) and they only have a king

Chesteraz7

Opening basics: Control the center and develop your pieces and get your king to safety. Connect your rooks and develop your knights before your bishops before your major pieces most of the time. Of course, there are some exception but you should not break those principles except if it is theory you learned.

Endgame basics: Activate your king, create passed pawns, and queen them. (I will give some basic endings too)

Middlegame basics: Take your worst placed piece and ameliorate it. Have a plan. Do what you couldn't achieve/delayed in the opening.

General basics: Stop your opponent's ideas, study endgames and tactics first, then when you become at a higher level, study opening theory.

Here are some basic endings:

King + pawn vs King: Get the opposition, get your king two squares in front of your pawn. King on the sixth pawn on the fifth is a win.

Queen ending: Put your queen at the distance of a knight from your king, watch for stalemate. When the king reaches the last rank/file  don't let him to leave it, bring your king and mate.

Rook ending: Create a fence, if you can make it smaller with a rook move do it, if you can't, get your king closer, when opponent gets to the last rank, continue until you reach the corner, finally take the opposition and do a back rank mate. Sometimes you are gonna have to play a waiting move so that your king is two files far from your rook
