Any trick for reading Chess Books

It's been said that chess is the "Art of analysis". Reading any book, chess or otherwise, brings with it a sense of accomplishment as we work through it ...but do we really work, or do we measure our study by the deeper penetration of the bookmarker ?

I've come to believe it's the attention we give to whatever position is in front of us that is most important. It doesn't matter how long we take to get through a book because it's the now that counts...Whenever I'm playing through a master game say and just moving the piece and not "asking questions", I know it's time to give it a rest.

The next part is where most people get confused and they will read the 2nd line right to left, picking up where the first line left off.

This makes sense, but actually every line in the book should be read starting from the left.

Hope that helps.

I usually start at the left when I read the first line, but once you've

Most chess books are bought with the best intentions and end up collecting dust.

Hi guys,

Could you tell me how do you study a book and how to gain most of it?

Thanks

Perhaps there is something helpful in this thread.

I've come across a decent method recently. I have chessbase online installed on my phone, and I use it as an analysis board when reading books. it's easy to do position setup, and easy to explore side variations then revert back to the main line.

Yes, You should read the chess book by skipping every other word in a sentence.

When ever you come across a noun you should replace it with an adjective.

You should than take a 2 min break and ask yourself the question "What would Bobby Fischer do!"

This is the most efficent way.
