*crickets*
I guess people expect you to draw your own conclusion.
I've only had one tournament game end with the 50 move rule. I was the weaker side (for nearly every move of the game) so I was pleased.
That's awesome estragon, I'd love to have a story like that :) I'd love to play back when multiple time controls and adjournments were the norm... although at my level I'd have to put up with adjudications instead, and that I wouldn't like at all.
I love this topic! In 50 years of play I've never had a draw by the 50 move rule so I wanted to know too.
I've also had a lengthy hiatus from serious chess. I see that changes to the 50 move rule have occured during my absence. My favorite which was changed was one I learned: Two knights versus a pawn safely blocked by a knight behind the Troitsky line. I believe it was mate in 66 moves. I couldn't do it now.
I've had a few. It usually happens when my opponent tries to win on time (or doesn't know that K+R vs K+R is a draw). We just move aimlessly for 50 moves.
I got one against Computer 1- EASY. I usually beat it when I play against it, but that time I made several blunders, and ended up on the losing side of a K vs K+Q endgame. Luckily, the computer hadn't studied basic endgames, so I was able to escape with a draw.
I don't see how, it's not legal anymore.
It is. Perpetual check isn't "legal" anymore, in the sense that it isn't officially one of the types of draws.
I had A Queen vs Rook and did not KNOW how to win. Pretty sad,... Everyone said I should be glad I drew such a high-rated player and the fact that he is was older and more experienced 'international' player.... Made me want to quit chess that day.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't know how to win Q vs R (including me, at least).
I found one in my own games
