Although I suspect oinquarki is right... and it's just two books with the same ultra-generic title, it is more than a bit bizarre that they are both from the same publisher and have the exact same (ultra generic) cover (with a change of color).

Must be the same book - Quality Chess won't be releasing two books on the same subject in the same month, let alone with the same title!

Presumably Pinski was going to write it (and that info got sent to Amazon), but in the end Shaw did it, or something like that.
