IPad 1??Not sure if this will work...but you could try installing it through iTunes on your computer, and then try again. When you click install again on your iPad it will pull up a notification that will say ios not compatible with your version, would you like to install compatible version click yes..and it should install....

I’ve been playing on the chess app on my iPad 1 updated to the latest iOS on it and unfortunately deleted the app. Now I’m not able to install the chess app back again since it says it’s not compatible with the version.
