Just beat Chess Free level 8 - mate in 18 moves. As black. I am about a 1400 - 1600 at best player which makes me question an  1800 rating for this level. There is a huge jump on the very highest levels,  but this is no stockfish.

It is interesting how different the difficulty of the computer is experienced. I beat the Computer up to Level 6 without real Problems, at Level 7 the Computer wins mostly, altough my position is better at first(even up to the endgame),in most cases it is not possible for me to hold it. My blitz Rating varies between 1500 and 1400 at the moment. I have a question: why on earth the Computer plays rubbish when the position is absolutly winning for the human (let us say +10 or so)

Well I managed to beat it on level 13 which is elo 2000 on the iPhone X.  The game was pretty easy actually.  No way I’m rated that level more 1600 but it was a classical nimzo Indian line which I’ve been studying.   Anyways I’m pretty happy with it!

its taken me 18 months to get to this level from first starting at 700.

Well, as you well know, on chess.com there are 2 types of computers, type online (levels range from 1 to 20), and the "normal" computer (with levels from 1 to 10).
I did a mini-match of 4 games between computer level19 and computer level 9, inverted colors and inverted devices. So I tried to do a match that did not favor anyone. I used a laptop and a phone not very powerful but with acceptable computing power (i-6006u for laptop and kirin 655 for the phone) ...

Result?

4-0 for computer level 9!

Yes, he destroyed the same opponent who beat Maxime Vachier Lagrave in a 5 '+ 5 "(Lagrave is rated 2786 in rapid and 2937 in blitz).

However I am sure that Lagrave is actually stronger than computer19.

Well, having said that, computer level 9 is really very strong apparently.

(I also think that the online ratings that have computer levels are wrong, because anyone can use a chess engine to "steal" elo, in fact computer19 is often at the same level of computer18-17-16, but not because it is weaker , but for the problem I mentioned above)

TheKingOfTheDarkSide

i have destroyed level 8 and drawn with level 9 on my pc. I am a 2100 rated player on chess.com and level 10 wrecks me easily. Here comparisons should only be made while playing computers on pc as i can easily beat level 10 on mobile but it is better with a faster processor. And yes if you want your true rating, my advice is that you make a new account and start from 1200 and play at least 20-50 games and your rating will somewhat reflect your true rating.

Your chess.com 2079 blitz rating is only based on 1 game.  Therefore, we don't know what your rating is.

How does one start out with a rating this high and playing only one game?? I think I had to work my way from the bottom up. Puzzles me..

Yet, the fact that I have a 700-ish Elo rating, but am still able to conquer a Level 7 computer (on PC) puzzles me even more. After all, my tactical skills are exceptionally poor, and even if the time factor does com into play, I thoroughly doubt that I would be able to beat a 1600 rated player

The underlying explanation really just stems from the fact that TheKingofTheDarkSide has stated that he/she was an expert upon signing up to chess.com. By stating that you are an expert, your Elo rating automatically, by default, becomes 1800. By playing one game, his Elo rating increased by three hundred or so points.

I wanted to check out those engines so, here are some games,

FIDE Elo: ~1900

I want to mention that i have used trainer mode and show eval(i haven't used computer to analyse, only to show me how i stand), no tips or live analysis

                                                             First match against Level 7(1750)

Pretty much ~1600-1700, not many obvious mistakes, but little innacuracies and 2 bad moves.
My thinking time was around 90', so i might say i played on classic mode, the computer moved almost imediatly
Also precision scores

Second game against Level 8*(to be edited)

I've got to level four on my chess machine. I'm sure  that it tries to cheat me sometimes when I ask for help.
