Are 95%-99% Accuracy ratings for some games and below 10% for others a red flag?

I don't care about winning or losing in terms of a record.  I care about improving and playing actual people when I have a few minutes of free time.  I am a newbie, and am admittedly not very good.  I just played someone, and he crushed me.  Fine....we both have been on the site for less than two weeks and had similar 700-750 ratings (10 Minute Games).  When I went to analyze the game to see how I screwed up so bad, I was surprised to see that he had an Accuracy rating for the game of over 94%.  So I looked at some of his past games.  Some were 95%-100% Accuracy, some were below 10% Accuracy.

Is that wide of a swing in Accuracy normal for a player with a low rating?  I have had two games as high as 73%, with most in the 20%-50% range (like I said, I'm not too good).  Are those Accuracy percentages for some of his games a red flag?  The variation?  Or did his opponents in some games just play so poorly (like me) it was easy to "do the right thing" turn after turn?  I just am not interested in playing against a computer with whatever spare time I have to play and learn...I'll just block people if I know that they are likely not playing fairly.  But I don't want to block people who play good at times and not so good at times, using their own brain.

Thanks.

Jeff

Sometimes when you play a person who has made a lot of mistakes, the best move is obvious. Also, if the game is open, that is a lot of pawns are gone and pieces have a lot of room to move around, higher accuracies are common.

If the position is closed and complicated, a lot of times the best move isn’t obvious and the best moves involve complicated combinations. In these instances accuracy tends to plummet.

There is nothing fishy about 94%.

Accuracy ratings are usually not a very good indicator. Shorter games are usually prone to higher swings, because there are less moves, and therefore give more unreliable readings. It’s not uncommon for even a 750 to score accuracies over 95, even on reasonably long games (30+ moves), if you don’t make a mistake. I myself have finished several games with over 95 accuracy, a few in the 50s, and even one in the teens.

Thank you for your responses. I was unaware that asking a general question like this was against forum rules. I will delete the thread.
