Are bots getting stronger?

I beat Trisha once, then next day no luck. She plays nothing but Sicilian, and I keep losing now.

TheRollingKick

nah

TheRollingKick

I beat coach david

MyFishTellMeTheMoves

I wonder what is making it more difficult. What am I missing?

TheRollingKick

maybe some important moves look through and check

TheRollingKick

bro Trisha is rating 1875 she is strong

MyFishTellMeTheMoves

That's not really my point. I played DJ Ron who is 1350. He also seemed to be better. I missed a silly mate, but it still played better than last time. I was able to rematch and win. With Trisha, I can't figure it out.

MyFishTellMeTheMoves

I think what happened is many people beat Trisha and maybe even the other bots and they decided to up the strength.

Zen_Buh

It could be that the 1 game you played must have been better than the others, since the bots are just algorithms for moves. Maybe learning the Sicilian can help beat Trisha

Then it means I just got lucky first time. It's possible, but I think it is also possible they put out these bots to get "feelers" of the competition. If it is too strong they weaken the bot, and vice versa.

TheRollingKick

I mean it take me 3 days to beat rating 2000 1900 1800 1700 look at my account is crazy

Zen_Buh

I mean that could be true but then they would most likely change the 'Elo' of the bot to match, since the rating shown is just how accurate the bot is in terms of gameplay.

I disagree. There is no exact scale to evaluate rating points. Two 1500 bots could be at different levels for different reasons.

  1. A bot could be "introduced" to a server to test it out. It might have been developed to beat an 1800 bot as in the dilemma I am having with Trisha. Humans come in and play it and win easily. The bot developers modify the settings, and now it performs better.
  2. A bot could play in a style that the human is not experienced in. Trisha is a great example. I am a doofus at the Sicilian openings, but there are no Ruy Lopez 1800 bots for it for free members.
  3. There could be previous 1500 bots and now when they play a 1500 bot developed today, they lose to it. The Nelson bot comes to mind (1300, but still the same point,).
TheRollingKick

idk but still the bots are the same

Yeah that does prove my point, the 'Elo' of a bot doesnt really do much, its just a rough scaling of how good the bot is. It could be that Trisha is just a bit harder.

ye he is telling the truth

jfonss

I dunno. I used to beat 1300-1500 with ease. Now I keep losing to DJ Ron Passant. Either I'm getting worse at playing or DJ Ron is playing in a way I cannot counter. I'm about to throw the laptop out the ..
