Are chess players athletes? 💨

I don't think there is universal agreement on the definitions of athlete, sport, etc, other than general definitions that don't answer the current questions. So it seems rather pointless....we all know exactly what chess is, so I don't see the point of trying to force it unnecessarily into a box labeled "sport".  It's an argument that can never be won or proven, and the only thing to gain is a better understanding of how others might feel about it....but that rarely is the objective of the debater.  Just once, I'd like to hear someone say, "I understand. That's interesting.....I didn't see it that way, but you make a good point."
No, it's more like "You are a narcissist, a knucklehead, a psychopath, and no one agrees with you. "  
All I can say is, "Good thing they don't allow politics here".

@CooloutAC.. has a point.. those who are against him all matter is that they should win the "argument" and not accept facts instead.. i have kept an huge passage why is no one responding to that? Your English skills will not do anything.. unless you accept chess as an sport.. it's an sport that's all mental one and it even gives physical exertion.. those who just argue for such facts are like those who has never played chess "seriously" or take chess like video games which is what the mistake they are doing.. i know as usual foolish you all would do arguments which we don't care as you can never breakdown the fact that is chess is a sport 

It's pretty annoying when forums turn out into arguments.. quantity of posts does not matter quality matters.. and just arguments.. just lock this forum 

Forum means "discussion" not blabbering NONSENSE.. and anyway that international chess federation also declined go argue to them.. their contact number will be there in internet lol 😂🤣 contact them and say sir chess is not an sport.. only kids play chess. I mean they (international chess federation) declined that chess is a sport.. we did not do so. Instead lets just you know accept fact after all chess is a sport.. it is only chess haters like you or video game fans/addicts decline this fact.. anyway, lets change the topic as the topic is slightly different.. that is whether chess players are athletes.. and i would say no to that but never say chess is NOT a sport...

whether chess is or is not a sport, at the end of the day, comes down to preference and personal opinion. It is not definitive. You cannot say it is a sport for sure, when it is still debated. You can give your opinion, and state your reasoning behind your opinion (like others in the forum) but you cannot say it definitively.

Arguing here is like you purposefully wanna waste your time lol 😂🤣 instead of this happily you could have slept for a whole day rather than talking trash arguments..
