I think it’s cool seeing how many principles and strategies in chess can be utilized to make better moves at home.

What is a principle or tactic from chess that can be applied to the real world?

Control the center- As a lawyer I think about the center in business negotiations as the key issues that I can’t compromise on.

There's this book - The Tao of Chess, that talks about just that. It's in every Barnes & Nobles I believe.

Yes, resign now.

ABC_of_EVERYTHING

Yeah,  that's where chess loses.

I retired, that works!

Thanks for your contributions, guys!

I read the Tao of Chess many years ago. Great read! Haven’t seen anything else like it out there.

The reason I’m asking this is because i’m teaching my son how to play chess and I want to include a deeper life lessons as we go along.

Anything else coming to mind for you guys?

Kasparov wrote a book you might be interested in. How Life Imitates Chess

This is great! I haven’t heard of this one. Thanks for sharing.

Just bought it

Here's an interview in which the book is discussed. It's on my watchlist and have yet to see it for myself, so i'm not sure if it's any good where your topic is concerned.

I just got through the preface and I’m hooked. It’s spot on.

He talks about how he’s transitioned after his chess career to politics and how he’s learned to take the skills from chess and apply it to those realms.

Strategic thinking, understanding positions, improving decision making, etc.
