Got to blitz 1075, which is 15 better than my old best of 1060 just by deveping the horses first, instead of starting with the bishops as I used to do. And I didnt even "explore" this way of playing so much yet, just a few games in "horses first" mode and the rating went kaboom. Wouldnt ya know!

Good job!Laughing

It depends on what line you are playing.

Usually bishops are considered already some what active from their home square becuase they are long range pieces. So that is why people tend to use the phrase develop knights before bishops becuase the knights are short ranged pieces.

However, all of that being said in some positions it is vitual to develop the bishop's first. It is becuase that position is unique and it is considered the best move in that position.

For example I play the London System it is a 1.d4 line. Very simple system that has been recommended to everyone from beginner to expert.

It is a unverisal system which allows you to develop pieces with out having to worry about getting blown off the board. I use to do really bad in the opening falling into traps lol Till I looked at a few lines that are very solid and good. They say if you can survive the first 10 moves your chances of winning increase alot.

That is the way it starts by getting the bishop outside of the pawn chain. The idea is to play your bishop out early so you can play e3. So developing your knights would be bad or slowing you down in a way. So thats why some lines are unqiue. It doesn't matter what your opponent plays really that is how it will always start lol like 99% of the time.

The Diagram above shows what your ending position will look like you will get that position 90% of the time. No Matter what your opponent plays as well. Some lines cause you to play pieces in different spots but for the most part that is what you will get against the majority of players out their.

If your interested in playing this line some more you can always let me know and I'll link my forum. If not its all good at least you know now that sometimes bishops can develop first lol.

I have to admit I do like looking at this line lol. It looks like a pyramid of success when you look at it.
