I am very new to the fascinating game of chess. I have been going through the lessons on chess.com to learn the game properly. The lessons cover stalemate and draw. I thought I read something in one of the news post that these are being eliminated, or am I in error? Being a beginner I play using a computerized board. At my elementary level I find my games sometimes end this way. Can anyone provide information on this? THANK YOU, Jerry

No. Draws and stalemates are not being eliminated.

There are certainly many new players upset by them but most advanced players understand what they bring to the game.

I think you are referring to Chess.com's April's Fool post happy.png

Thanks to you both. And yes Alramech that is the article I was referring to. I over looked the “sub title referring to April fools”. I guess the joke was on me!😂

Nope. People are gonna have to keep complaining about stalemate for at least another 500 years.

LazyDog24, I understand your comment, even at my neophyte level. I am begging to realize when I think I have a match won, I need to see what move puts me into stalemate and avoid it to place the king into check
