Are the knight and bishop really equal?

I know they have the same point value, but in my experience the bishop has been a lot more useful to me. That could depend on my play style however, and I’m curious to see what other people feel.

It depends from particular position. Generally, bishops are stronger in open positions.

I think bishop should be worth 4 points instead of 3 because it is way more important than the knIght.
They both have different purposes and therefore excel in different aspects. I wouldn't say that one will always be superior to the other.
