1) This is too petty an incident to bother reporting it to the site administrators

2) It wasn't bonus time being added on because that was not part of the clock settings.

3) It may have been lag, I read the description (thanks for the link). However, his time repeatedly kept going back to 1 min 30 sec (give or take 1-2 sec), regardless of how many seconds he took to make his next move. So basically the clock counted down normally from 3 min to 1 min 30 sec and then it kept resetting at that exact time. That is why I was so perplexed.

I suggest you report it to site admin.

If most major corporations and US government departments can be hacked (and very many have been), then so can chess.com or virtually any other site you can think of.

Computers and computer networks are nowhere near as secure as most people assume, reporting this (apparent) hack might not only get this likely hacker/cheater kicked off, but might also make the site more secure in the future once this is fixed.

Hellow guys, I thought of something - some things really humerous...

 ... NEW CHEAT CODES! :D.

..See if you can make up your own and add them to this list of extras!

1) Commit Seppuku! Effect: Kills all Samurai on the battlefield

2) How do you stop a Rhino from charging? You give him American Express. Effect: Grants 10000 Export

3) The Wonder, The WONDER...the NO!!! (From AOE2) Effect: All wonders are destroyed simoultaneously OR Wonders are invulnerable.

4) ...mmmSomeone call In THE CAVALRY??? Effect: Delivers 50 Elmeti

 5) JIHAD! Effect: Increases all unit speed and attack by 100%. Can be called off if JIHAD! is typed in again.

 6) Did you see...THAT? Effect: Delivers 1 propHorse, giving it 4.5 more speed (10.0 instead of 5.5) and 40 more LOS. (It is an invulnerable scout.)

7) What Wilderness? I OWN THIS PLACE. Makes Explorer/Warchief/Monk/Hero invulnerable, and +20.0 LOS. Can be called off with the same text.

8) Soo...GLORIOUS! Effect: Reduces unit speed by 50%. This especially will work well with hand units (especially IN TRAMPLE xD: 1.71 Speed, here we GO!)

9) What shall we say next? Try to make one suggestion both funny and realistic. The choice is yours...

Don't listen to these guys.  The secret cheat code is really "xyzzy."

If you delete system 32, you slow down the chess.com server's ability to  communicate with your computer, hence, much more time available in blitz games.

I think the ultimate approach for acquiring more time might be to switch to dial-up.

Interesting.  (sounds like he's aware that he has really bad lag, and knows enough to pace his game accordingly)

During live chess, when you type "IDDQD," your pieces become untakeable, while you can of course take your opponents'. When you type IDKFA, you have access to all your pieces whether they have been taken by your opponent or not.

Hi Admin,

the problmes observed are

1. My opponent time goes on incresing while of mine is decreasing

2. Game closed as check mate but there are possible moves

I lost almost 400 points in a single day with the mess

its not at all acceptable at a mind games like this

i am very unhappy and going post negative comments on the site

TheGrobe

There are a number of valid reasons for the observed clock behaviour including incremental time controls, pre moves and lag compensation.

With respect to the checkmate that wasn't checkmate, can you link to the game in question?

ivandh

Communicating directly with the staff instead of posting in a two-year-old thread might help.

sftac

Yeah, sure -- but pretty much everyone does that (and where has it gotten them?).

This member may be onto something and come up with a workable approach.

Cheat codes?

This site is stupid, when someone can make the clock idle for 5 - 10 secs means, this is highly irritating the gamers playing in this site. Stupids

sftac

The site's clocks are only estimates of the time involved, and included periods when they are adjusting for major lag by one or both of the players.

If there is a lot of lag (notice the 'lag bars', green, yellow or red in colour along with their length), then you can expect a Lot of adjustment and should not trust the clock displays (assume, you may have less time than indicated and that your opponent may have more time than indicated, and play accordingly -- that is, brisker than you may think you need to).
