Are there any particular exercises for developing patience?

Not quite accurate.

8.1.4   The scoresheet shall be used only for recording the moves, the times of the clocks, offers of a draw, matters relating to a claim and other relevant data.

Right, but not analyses, it is what I meant.

All the better. You need more patience if there is no fish. And you don't have to kill animals...

It isn't patience but opportunism, but there is one great exercise that would teach you if you started it in childhood like I did.  You are walking through a commercial/office building, and in front of you, automatic doors are starting to close.  Can you dance between the door and the jamb without fouling?

Try studying a foreign language. It's a slowdown kind of process for sure. A lot of super GMs speak many foreign languages fluently btw.

What kygrex just said is true.  Ya govoryu po-russky, but my Cyrillic keyboard went away after my box got infected by malware and I had to do a factory reboot, and I haven't bothered to install it again.

AlCzervik

op, check out my book, "how to procrastinate".

Horse doctors, quacks, & CVS pharmacists develop patients over time....HTH.

I still.play too fast overall,  I avoid anything less that 25 to 30 minutes.

As far as slowing down, I find the combination exercises in Chess King help a lot.

The Combination modules, not the chess playing program.

Now that would take immense patience.

The bunny now thinks patience has something to do with an elephant gun.  Inception thanks to Coleman. Never trust one.

PDVE.  There is a concrete way you can delay your moves.  Write in computer long hand.  Instead of writing NF3, write NG1-F3.  Sometimes I do this otb, to slow thinking, which puts me into a patient mental state.  I switch to short hand, if in time pressure.

U can start by stretching every morning....hth.

Meditation has worked for me.

Nwap111

open-eye meditation while playing.

That's one sick puppy.   Always wanted to say that.

None are so blind as those who will not be mediated
