Are we sick?

Sometimes I play until my head hurts or 3AM, that can't be good either....but it definitely a respite from the rest of reality....

When under stress we all do something like this. Staying up late isn't necessarily a problem.

But for example I once played a game 10+ hours a day for 3 or 4 days in a row. I slept maybe 3 hours a night, and ate only when I was starving. At the end of it I was so worn down I felt like I was recovering from the flu, and I thought to myself this is crazy, and got rid of the game.

Staying up to 3am could be bad, but it could also just be a normal relaxation time. But if you start feeling sick, missing school/work, ending relationships, those are danger signs.

Wow, sounds like we are in AA now...lol!

Guess I should try to limit my chess time to 3 hours a day or so.

Yeah, you can experiment with limits to see how you react.

If something crazy happened like a fire or flood, and you couldn't even get on a computer, life would go on. Sometimes we have more options than we give ourselves credit for.

I don't see the harm in playing a lot of chess. There are worst things to be addicted to.

I have screen burn of the chess.com logo and also the light and dark squares of the board across my mobile. When I first noticed this, that's when I realised I was an addict.

I like to play chess on my phone while I’m driving.

That’s what Bobby Fischer‘s psychiatrist said to his mother. Turns out, she was right all along.

That's a good idea. Do you play 1 min or 2+1?

Usually at least five minute games. I want at least some time to stare at a position and study the variations.

Talk about distracted drivers, you must be the guy in front of me that I swear at.
