The main idea is not to disturb your opponent. Light snacks would be OK, as long as it's not crunchy food. An aromatic, greasy pizza might be distracting to your opponent. A sandwich, eaten quietly, probably wouldn't be a problem.
Chess.com forums are intended to discuss pizza. FACT! (Evidence provided)

depends on the tournament, I go to a tournament where you can't have food at the board. Pizza wouldn't fly, but usually a chocolate bar or something like candy that you suck on would be fine I'd say. Why would you have to eat pizza at a game? I wouldn't like my opponent eating pizza, though beverages/candy/snacks I'm totally fine with.

I've been at tournaments where someone would start eating chips, crinkling the bag...And other players start bitching to the TD...

But...who sucks on chocolate bars? ._.

Yes. As long as you don't take notes, while you pay for it. Akobian will have you forfieted, then.
XD

That's not acceptable-greasy fingers=greasy pieces. No fun for the next player who uses them. Making noise with bags is very annoying. If your leaving the room ok fine, but seriously people are trying to concentrate, and there nothing more annoying then a noisy neighbour.

You could wear gloves while eating the pizza and take off the gloves each move. Also some pizza is greasier than others. Or you could just keep towlettes handy.

This could turn into a rehash of the infamous Karpov-Kortchnoi yogurt debacle of '78.
I seem to remember they were arguing over flavors? Do I recall that right? Damn, but that match had some bitterness going for it.

I thought you guys were joking about that Karpov Korchnoi yogurt thing. Guess I need to learn some more chess history. That's pretty funny😆

Again why do you need pizza at the board?

Why is that even a question?
Ah, I don't know, you don't need it-I'm asking you because your talking about it.

chess, pizza, bag o' reefer...
standard night in.
I can say with all honesty that the third part of this especially is why my rating is so low.

Is that universally true? I wonder how many pot smokers think it improves their game?

I don't know anything about tournament rules, but I do see players with beverages. Is eating OK? Can you eat pizza?
What if you have low blood sugar or a medical condition that requires it? Is a glucose drip allowed? Because, if so, I don't see why pizza wouldn't be.
Is there a preferred pizza for chess tournaments or players? Anchovies are high in Omega-3 fatty acids and good for the brain. Oysters increase libido. If one brings towelletes and eats quietly and discreetly it shouldn't be a problem. It could be trendy. At least at chess clubs. Pizza chess night. All the pizza you can eat and all the chess you can play.
My concern about beer is the potential for chess brawls.
It's not too nice to go back and modify previous posts without specifically flagging the changes.
At first your threads weren't too bad, but lately they've become more trollish. I'm *this far* from just ignoring all of your threads in the future.

Sorry. Hard to know what the expectations are, based on all the stuff I see posted here. Is it supposed to be serious, funny? Proprietary? Reverent? Irreverent? I didn't realize for a thread like this it mattered too much.
Honestly I did wonder about food and peeing at tournaments but after getting those answers I thought it could be made more fun and this title is not so out of line with other kinds of threads I see floating around. I wasn't trying to piss people off, but I know I'm not going to please everyone. Anyway, I assume this will drop off the list pretty soon and that's fine. Just here to have fun and learn a little.
Chess.com is not ambiguous about it at all. This the icon that is used to indicate a thread you've started, and it *clearly* indicates it should be dialog about pizza:
I have found indisputable evidence that the chess.com site developers did want people discussing pizza, or talking with pizza in their mouth. It appears next to any thread you've started to indicate it is a thread you started.
The point is, if you're not discussing some aspect of pizza, you are violating site policy. Better think of somehing quick.
