Yup, Over the Board my performance rating when playing black is about 100 points higher than my actual rating. Consequently, my performance rating when playing white is about 100 points less than my actual rating!
Strange stuff, to fix this I'm drastically changing my whole white repertoire.

I don't really play blitz or quick, so those would be too small of a sample size.
So I guess I'm slightly better as white, but not by much. The percentages are almost identical!
Oh ok. Looks like I'm about even with both. No wonder I don't feel much difference. I guess higher rated players feel the difference of the advantage of White more.

I have the same thing. I think it's because, in a typical equal position after the opening, as white I think "where is my initiative, I should be able to attack here" and as black I think "well, let's see what he does, might make a mistake, I'll stay solid..."

There might be something to that yea...generally when I have white my state of mind is that I have the initiative and I need to keep it, but I'd say that's the correct attitude to have when playing white. No, I think that my white repertoire was a bit kiddie (I played a lot of that Tony Kosten 2.g3 english opening stuff) so now I'm playing more mainline 1.d4 openings in hopes of having an initiative I can actually use.
I only have a Black repertoire. My White repertoire is really based off of what I've studied from the Black perspective. So I'm pretty confident in saying that I'm a stronger player with the Black pieces.

Well, looks almost equal.
As black I'm less likely to try fool things, like take a pawn, or advance too many pawns forward, etc. but as white I find there are more oppertunties for my opponent to screw up, as they often choose cool looking defenses they don't really understand (less so with white).
It all depends who I am playing. I used to love being white ... but sometimes I prefer to be black as I don't have to always dictate the moves of play? However, as I said it depends who I am playing ..... e.g. what type of player they are (aggressive, passive etc) and how strong they are. Also because I open with d4 as white i am starting to lose confidence in it as I have not been that successful with it against stronger players!
Well I have only been a member since 8 May 2009, so the number of games I've played so far is minimal - 19 games. Of these I have won 14 and playing black has given me 8 wins against 1 loss and with white 6 wins and 4 losses.
I find when playing black you are reacting to white's moves to begin with..and I have found so far that my oponents tend to play more agressively with white....and find their position tends to uravel if they aren't careful...

I prefer playing as white, because white always starts with a first move advantage which is crucial to me sometimes, I believe the first move advantage can sometimes be able to force a win for white.
Also whites winning pct decreases between Blitz games and games between Amateurs. Overall, I think playing as white is still better as you start with some advantage.

I am certainley most not, i tie more games with black then white but i lose more with black then white, and i play longer games with black.
