 Well I am not really not trying to argue. I am trying to share my point of view. However, I think people might not be understanding my logic and reasoning.

Perhaps I did not clarify my view point.

Sense you mentioned it. I would like to share with you my personal belief.

I am not trying to change your belief or anything. I am only trying to explain my own belief.

I am going to lay down all the cards on the table and explain my view points at which point you than can determine whether or not you agree with my stance.

I am going to explain my belief using an example of how I play chess:

In my mind, Chess is a strategic war game. It is a war between 2 different minds trying to out twit the other. When I play a chess game. I want to try and win. If I find myself in a losing position often I do not resign.

I only resign if I know I have no chance of making a come back at all and/or if my opponent is going to checkmate me. In some cases I have even gone as far as allowing my opponents mate me.

However, If a chance exist I will try to survive and make a come back that is the type of person I am.

I have battled on from being in a bad position, being down 1 pawn, and even in some cases being down 1 minor piece.

I want my opponents to show me there end game techinque!

If you have ever read my about me section you would see the following:

My playing style is of a Grinder:

Grinders are players with an unassuming style that can hide just how intent they are on winning. They don’t need to know opening theory to beat you. They don’t need to have an advantage to beat you. They don’t even need to have an equal position to beat you. Grinders have good positional skills, and are usually most at home in endgames. They are attuned to their opponents’ weaknesses which they use against them. On the other hand, they often know their own strengths and limitations pretty objectively, and will make good practical decisions. It’s hard to take advantage of a Grinder’s weaknesses, and you won’t have much luck getting errors out of them by applying pressure.

With the above information in mind. I would like to show you an example of how respond in a chess game.

I send out a seek to face someone. Eventually, I end up playing against a person. I will call that person Mister B.

Once the game is started against Mister B. I maintain complete focus. I will admit. I do not talk to my opponents or wish them good luck in the beginning of the game. I believe by doing that it breaks my concentration.

I do not say anything at all to them. If they say good luck or anything to me. I do not respond. I maintain complete focus. I concentrate on the battle at hand. I ignore all the chat talk and the spectators.

The Chess Battle will go under way eventually the game will end in a Win, Lose, or Draw.

What ever the case is I might at that point say good game than offer a rematch.

If my opponent declines the rematch. I will not go to there home page. I will not talk to them. I will not say anything about them. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I will say to myself maybe my opponent had an emergency and could not play me again. At which point I will send out another seek.

If my opponent accepts the rematch. I will do the same procedure again. I will not respond to them in the beginning of the match. When the game ends in a Win, Lose, or Draw. I will send them another rematch.

This is my stance and how I play on live chess. This is an example of me playing against a person I labeled as Mister B.

However, after my game I may come to forums. If I manage to find myself in a chess forum with a title such as:

Are you supposed to accept a rematch offer on live chess?

I will read the comments of the people who typed here.

If I read through this forum and come across a person named Mister C who says the following statement " I don't give rematches because I don't believe in giving my opponents a revenge match. I play someone esle".

Than something as changed! You see in live chess. I gave Mister B the benefit of the doubt because I did not know the reason he refused the rematch. Mister B could of had an emergency! I do not know so I can not say anything to him!

However, Mister C over here on forums does not have an emergency. Mister C has given me a reason up front of why he is willingly refusing to play against people. Mister C believes if he gives his opponents a rematch again they may play stronger the second time around and beat him. So to avoid that tougher competition from said opponent Mister C plays someone esle.

At which point I am going to post on the forum "Hey, Mister C you are a Jelly Fish".

Definition of the word Coward -

I think the answer can be as simple as the golden rule, "do unto others as you have them do unto you." Therefore, the onus is ultimately on you and your integrity/morality. For if you are one who will invariably offer a rematch on a lost then correspondingly you should accept a rematch when it is offered. Likewise, if you never ask for a rematch then you are not obligated to accept a rematch. As long as one is honest with oneself then any exogenous comments should be inconsequential to one's happiness or mental well-being, or don't sweat the small stuff.

alright.  this was particular to just one (or a couple people)...I missed that.

still... I think anybody that plays a chess game Live must adknowledge they might Lose.  thus if they are playing, anybody, they are risking a lose.  AND, if you decline the rematch- you are now playing the pool.  There Next opponent Might be using an engine!   

"Revenge matches" are good things (well lets call it a statistically likely win)!  if a guy blunders there is an increased chance he go on to lose game after game.  I See that in the ratings history!  its a least More likely than for him to comes back and wallops you.

I think anybody playing chess with perfect strangers online, is by definition Not a coward- since it would be easier to just go on the forum and claim to be an expert without a game played...

instead, Is possible that Mr C didn't express himself well, or was being sarcastic?

at any rate- I understand you and there is no argument.  (barring personal issues, generally I play a rematch if one is offered.)  Good.  I like your posts.

Mister X never explained the rematch situation with Mister D (a la Scare Tactics), and what happens when he plays Mister Ed who is a horse grinding ending expert, I bet he wouldn't say neigh to that?

I decline rematches altogether. We both had our chance to prove ourselves. What happened happened. The walls have closed. Time to prove on.
